Business May Need to Step Up in this Automation-Wracked World

Automation is cool in so many ways and it is going to do great things for business. It is even going to create amazing new jobs that we cannot even get our minds around yet. But here’s the thing: they may not be jobs for the people who have jobs now. Does business have a responsibility to re-train the workers they have now? And will it even work? It is a subject I raise when I speak with business groups, who tend to be split when it come to their plans, and I also covered it in this column I wrote for the Globe and Mail.
