Is It Time for a Robot Tax?

In my latest column for the Globe and Mail I write about the controversial subject of a robot tax. In one sense it is fair enough: if  you hire workers you have to pay a payroll tax, so if you go with robots (or cobots, who are broad-minded enough to work alongside humans) shouldn’t you pay a tax too? At the very least, that would raise government income that could go towards aiding displaced workers. Of course, it is not as simple as that (it never is) but it is a subject that bears discussing.
